Eliza & Matts - A Spring Elopement in the Lofoten Islands

Eliza and Matts traveled all the way from Canada to elope in the wild and rugged beauty of Lofoten. They knew that planning an elopement here meant embracing whatever the weather had in store—something that turned out to be especially true for their big day.

Lofoten was in the middle of a stormy stretch when they arrived, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. Luckily, we had the flexibility to adjust our plans slightly, but even with that, it was a day full of unpredictable elements. And yet, that's exactly what made it so special.

A Cozy Start at Nusfjord Arctic Resort

Eliza and Matts began their day tucked away in the warmth of their cozy robu at Nusfjord Arctic Resort. As they got ready, the sound of the wind and rain outside only added to the anticipation. When it was time for their first look, they stepped outside, greeted by the crisp sea air and moody skies—exactly the kind of raw, untamed beauty that makes Lofoten so unforgettable.

From there, we made our way to a breathtaking seaview location where they exchanged their vows. The wind blowing in their hair, the waves crashing below, and in that moment, it felt like they were the only two people in the world. It was intimate, emotional, and completely them.

Chasing Views & Finding Magic in the Unexpected

Determined to add an adventurous element to their day, we set out to hike Offersøykammen, hoping for stunning views from the top. But as soon as we reached the summit, the weather took a turn. Thick clouds rolled in, blocking any view we had hoped for. Still, Eliza and Matts embraced the moment, quickly changing into their wedding attire and sharing a few fleeting moments at the top before we decided to make a run for it back down. A classic Lofoten experience—where the weather writes its own story.

Back at their accommodation, they warmed up, dried off, and enjoyed a well-deserved meal. But we weren’t done just yet.

A Rainy Ending with a Perfect Little Pause

As we arrived at our final location, the rain returned in full force. We waited, hoping for a break, and just when it seemed like the day would end soaked once again, the skies gave us a small window. The rain eased, the clouds shifted, and for a brief moment, Eliza and Matts had the beach all to themselves—just them, the sand, and the ever-changing sea.

That’s the thing about Lofoten: the weather is unpredictable, but that’s also what makes it so magical. Some of the most unforgettable moments come from embracing the unexpected, leaning into the wildness of this place, and trusting that no matter what, your day will be uniquely yours.
